Warmer Kiwi Homes is an EECA programme aimed at making homes warmer, drier and healthier.
We are evaluating Warmer Kiwi Homes to assess how well it is achieving these objectives and to grow the public evidence base about what works.
In 2020, we commissioned Motu Economic & Public Policy Research to review current evidence supporting the programme and estimate its current impact.

Warmer Kiwis Study: Phase 2
In 2021, EECA is digging deeper into the benefits and effectiveness of the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme, by commissioning a consortium of experts, led by Motu Research, to collect brand new data. This year’s Warmer Kiwis Study involves working directly with a group of 200 homeowners who are receiving grants for an efficient heater through the programme.
The study will investigate the actual improvement in the indoor environment, as well as whether the health and wellbeing of the household improves as a result.
