Objectives

This energy assessment will outline immediate actions your business can take to improve efficiency by up to 25% and cut costs. It will also provide medium- to long-term options for new fuel or technology.

Eligibility

  • Open to businesses based and registered in New Zealand, state-owned enterprises, local councils, and regional councils that spend at least $50,000 per year on diesel for their boiler.
  • Not eligible: Public service departments, non-public service departments (such as the New Zealand Defence Force), schools, and statutory crown entities.

What the funding covers

100% funding is available up to a maximum of $3,000, excluding GST. This funding includes:

  • An energy assessor doing an onsite walk-through focused on your boiler and process heat system (under 1 hour).
  • Quick wins identified and communicated on the day, looking at immediate opportunities like changing process settings, sealing leaks, and improving insulation.
  • A follow-up report delivered within 10 working days that describes your cost-saving opportunities in more detail, and outlines future optimisation or asset replacement options that warrant further investigation.

Funding is available for up to 100 walk-throughs on a first-in, first-served basis.

What kind of project is this for?

If you are using diesel to run a boiler or burner, or for process heat, an energy assessment can identify ways to reduce costs. These efficiency opportunities won’t usually be picked up during routine maintenance.

If you haven’t had an efficiency review for some time, you are likely to see the greatest benefits from an energy assessment.
