About the consultation
To support the uptake of efficient residential heat pump water heaters (HPWHs, also known as hot water heat pumps) across New Zealand, EECA plans to publish a guide aimed at providing practical information and advice for installers of HPWHs.
This guide will help to ensure that HPWHs are correctly selected and installed, so that homeowners can reap the benefits of a more efficient, lower cost form of water heating.
Efficient products, and effective installations
EECA have been working with a technical advisory group, made up of representatives across the sector, to prepare a draft guidance document.
The guide will cover key topics such as product selection, considerations around system size and type, as well as climate conditions, and examples of requirements for electrical, plumbing and refrigerant works.
This comprehensive draft version is the result of the technical advisory group’s combined knowledge, experience and input.
Help shape the final draft
To support this work, EECA are releasing a draft copy of the draft guide and seeking feedback from our sector partners.
Feedback is open until 31 July, and people can provide comments using the downloadable form below – this will help us to consider all the points raised by everyone and update the document in a fast and accurate manner.
Please note that the final document will be re-formatted and some of the diagrams may be revised, so there is no need to comment on these elements in the draft document.
EECA will review everyone’s feedback to address any final changes, before publishing it on our website later in the year.
Please email your feedback and any enquiries to star@eeca.govt.nz, and include the subject line "HPWH Installers Guide".
