Objectives
To support you with a feasibility study and business case for an energy-efficiency or renewable energy project. This co-funding ensures your project is rigorously investigated and analysed, giving you confidence in its success and return on investment.
Eligibility
- Open to large New Zealand- registered businesses and public organisations that spend more than $1.5 million a year* on stationary energy (that used in fixed locations).
- Co-funding is capped at 40% of the cost of a feasibility study or business case, up to a maximum of $50,000.
What kind of project is co-funding this for?
A feasibility study or business case can be in an industrial or commercial setting (including in the public sector), and relate to any technology or process associated with energy efficiency or using renewable energy.
For example, you may apply for funding to determine the viability of:
- installing a more efficient compressed air system in a manufacturing plant
- upgrading the heating system for a commercial complex or hospital
- converting or replacing a fossil fuel heat plant with one that uses renewable fuel.
Your business or organisation must own or manage the plant or building that the project relates to, and be committed to implementing the project.
*Energy spend lower than $1.5 million a year? We may consider you for co-funding if you’re investigating new technologies or processes with high potential for replication, or using natural gas.
How we assess applications
We look at the quality of information provided, and how likely it is that the project will lead to cost-effective energy savings or uptake of renewable energy.
The scope of your feasibility study must:
- show that you have explored viable solutions before selecting the preferred option
- include costings for each solution that are detailed to the same level and comparable.
Help with your application
You can use a consultant to develop an application in the name of a business owner or manager. They need to be a qualified consultant who has no vested interest in equipment to be used in the project.
Application process
Fill out and submit an application form, following the instructions in the form carefully — you can save changes as you go.
