Objectives

To support gas users who are facing high prices and difficulty securing supply contracts. This energy assessment will outline immediate actions that can be taken to improve energy efficiency on site, and options for new fuel or technology in the medium to long term.

Eligibility

  • New Zealand registered businesses that spend less than $1,500,000 a year on stationary energy. 
  • The business must be using reticulated (piped) gas as its main source of stationary/thermal energy. 
  • Funding is capped at a maximum of $2,500 excluding GST.

Note: this is a pilot and is initially capped at 100 assessments.

What kind of project is this for?

An introductory energy assessment by an a qualified, EECA-approved service provider to visit your site and identify your main energy efficiency opportunities and renewable energy option(s) for your site

Following the site visit a short report summarising this information will be provided by the service provider to the business. The report will include: 

  • a minimum of three energy efficiency opportunities 
  • information on practical technology and renewable energy option(s) that could be explored

  • indicative operating energy/cost savings and magnitude of capital required

  • recommended next steps and timing, and where to get further information. 

EECA will provide up to $2,500 excluding GST to cover the full cost of the site assessment and related report for eligible businesses.

How to apply

To apply for a walk-through energy assessment, you will need to submit an online application form.    

To complete the form you will need: 

  • a copy of one natural gas invoice for your site from the past 12 months 
  • an estimate of your site’s annual energy usage and spend by energy type (you can find this on your energy supplier’s invoices) 
  • a copy of your business bank account details (for invoice reimbursement).

Once you have submitted your application form, EECA will confirm acceptance or seek further information within 10 working days.
