Technical consultation

EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority) in conjunction with the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water (DCCEEW) are reviewing the technical formulas used in calculating air conditioner cooling seasonal performance. The formulas are outlined and referenced in the New Zealand Energy Efficiency (Energy Using Products) Regulations 2002(external link)

The focus of the review is on the level of flexibility provided around rated values. We are also seeking views on the appropriate level to set when cooling starts (ambient air temperature, T0) in calculating air conditioner energy use for commercial environments. The aim is to improve the accuracy of cooling seasonal energy performance calculations.

Consultation opened on the 3rd of September and closes on the 30th of September
