Compare power plans
Use Powerswitch to compare plans and providers. A few clicks could shave up to $500 off your power bills each year.
Consider an off-peak power plan
Power companies offer plans that reward you for using energy during off-peak times, like nights and weekends, when demand across the country is lower. These plans, often called off-peak, time-of-use, flexi or ecosaver, can save you money while helping the grid stay sustainable. They are especially great for households that use more energy during off-peak hours, like charging EVs overnight or heating rooms while kids sleep.
These plans typically offer cheaper or discounted power at specific times, and could save you up to $150 a year — just be sure to check the details.
Shift your energy use
If you switch to an off-peak power plan or are already on one, make sure you shift your energy use to those discounted times. Power companies might increase their peak rates to offset the discounted offers. This means if you don’t shift your use to those discounted windows, you could potentially end up spending more.
Bundled plans
Bundling utilities can simplify your bills, but it might not be the cheapest option. These plans often lock you into a contract with termination fees, making it harder to switch to better deals.
