What the guidance covers

EECA supports the development of best practice guidance to help businesses, industry and consumers make informed decisions about energy-efficient technologies. These documents help readers navigate complex technical requirements and industry best practices.  

Best practice guidance documents include: 

  • Installation guides — Recommendations for safe and effective installation of energy-efficient technologies. 
  • Industry guidance — Resources for suppliers, manufacturers, and installers on meeting high standards of product and system performance. 
  • Consumer guidance — Advice to help households get the best results from smart and energy-efficient products. 

These documents are developed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure they reflect the latest best practices. Where relevant, they complement existing regulations and technical standards. 

Partnership with Standards New Zealand 

Some of EECA’s best practice guidance documents are developed in partnership with Standards New Zealand. These documents are published as Publicly Available Specifications (PAS). They are voluntary documents that help shape industry standards and consumer expectations.
