Mō te tūnga | About the role
EECA’s Policy and Engagement team is responsible for providing policy advice, information and other assistance on energy matters for the Minister for Energy and other key stakeholders.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Policy Advisor to lead EECA’s engagement on cross-government policy and ensure EECA’s priorities are well represented with key stakeholders..
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Lead EECA’s engagement with, and strongly influence, cross-government policy work programmes that relate to energy efficiency and the use of renewable forms of energy.
- Key contributor to strategy development based on policy objectives
- Manage and uphold EECA’s governance relationships, particularly with the Minister for Energy’s office and MBIE, ensuring proactive information flow.
- Oversee draft responses to Ministerial and other correspondence, including OIA requests, which are largely prepared by the Advisors.
- Provide thought leadership for EECA on policy issues surrounding energy efficiency and renewable energy.
- Support development of junior staff.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

A tertiary qualification in public policy, economics, humanities, psychology or similar work experience
- 5+ years' experience in a similar role
- Ability to influence and lead at a senior level
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to analyse and communication complex ideas
- Strong experience in machinery of Government and policy development
- A proactive and collaborative approach.
