Products Technical Analyst - Standards and Regulations
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) is a government agency that aims to improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of New Zealanders, through the uptake of energy efficiency and renewable energy. We aim to influence the energy decisions of households, businesses, motorists and transport operators through the provision of trusted information and targeted programmes.
The Standards and Regulations team contributes to EECA’s work by developing and implementing energy efficiency Regulations, Standards and labelling for products such as appliances and vehicles. We work closely with Australia through the trans-Tasman Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) programme for many of these products.
The objective of the role is to manage the end to end technical product data collected and distributed by the Standards and Regulations team at EECA. You will turn the collected technical data into information provided to consumers that will influence purchasing decisions, track changes in the market due to current regulations and develop information regarding the impacts of proposed future changes to Standards and Regulations on the current market that will influence EECA operational policy decisions.
We are looking for someone who is curious and an analyst at heart, who bases decisions on data and what it tells you. You will understand how to build accurate complex spreadsheets based on standards and your own curiosity. An understanding of databases and SQL is an advantage but not essential. You will have a technical background and the ability to explain conceptually challenging and technical material to a variety of audiences.
Note: Some domestic and international travel will be required to carry out the duties of the role.
