ENERGY STAR®
ENERGY STAR is the global mark of energy efficiency. It is the independent, international benchmark for energy efficiency, awarded to the top 25% most energy efficient appliances, home electronic products and office equipment in each category.
Products that meet ENERGY STAR specifications qualify to display the ENERGY STAR mark. By purchasing ENERGY STAR qualified appliances, consumers can save money on their electricity bills - as well as helping our environment.
In New Zealand the ENERGY STAR mark is currently displayed on 15 product categories, including:
- Whiteware - dishwashers, fridges and freezers and washing machines
- Home electronics - televisions, DVD players and audio equipment
- Heat pumps
- Office and imaging equipment - computers and imaging equipment (fax machines, laptops, photocopiers, printers, scanners).
ENERGY STAR partners promote ENERGY STAR to consumers and businesses. They include major New Zealand manufacturers, retailers and service providers.
