New ENERGY STAR specifications for heat pumps and ducted heat pumps
20 February 2013 - With upcoming increases to minimum energy performance standards for heat pump/air conditioners, EECA has also increased the stringency of the ENERGY STAR specifications for these products. The two specifications become effective on 1 April 2013, in time for the winter heating season.

New ENERGY STAR specification for gas heaters
14 November 2012 - After consultation with the gas industry, EECA is now pleased to introduce a New Zealand ENERGY STAR specification for gas space heaters. The specification becomes effective on 1 March 2013, in time for the next winter heating season.

New ENERGY STAR specification for luminaires
1 November 2012 - The New Zealand ENERGY STAR luminaire specification, which is based on the internationally recognised US ENERGY STAR version, has been launched following a consultation period with the lighting industry and stakeholders.
