This document sets out the principles, rules, requirements, and operational framework for the biodiesel grants scheme.

This document governs participation and involvement in the scheme. Direct participants and other parties must adhere to all of the relevant criteria and other obligations in order for a grant to be paid.

EECA's role under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act includes assisting the Minister of Energy to prepare and administer a strategy. On 27 September 2001, the first five-year National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (attached below) was released.

NB. The current New Zealand Energy Strategy and New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy was released on 30 August 2011.

The New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (NZEECS) was written in 2007, and was a key part of the government’s response to meeting its energy, climate change, sustainability and economic transformation goals. It has been written as a companion document to, and will give effect to a number of the objectives set out in, the New Zealand Energy Strategy (NZES).

NB. The attached NZEECS was replaced by the New Zealand Energy Strategy and New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy on 30 August 2011.
