The purpose of this report is to provide a summary of existing information related to household energy affordability. It will inform the development of a working measurement of household energy affordability, and will provide direction for qualitative research and the content of a survey.

EECA recently commissioned Realsure to look at the standard of insulation work in new homes - which may have an impact on EECA's future retrofit programmes.

This report outlines research conducted by the University of Otago which looks at the heating and cooling potential of moving roof space air into a home's living areas, as the most common type of home ventilation system does.

The report recommends that this type of ventilation system - known as a "positive pressure" or "roof cavity" system - is not promoted or installed based on potential heating or cooling benefits.
