EECA has offices in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington.
Our head office in Wellington accommodates approximately 80 staff members, and there are nine staff across our other two offices.
Teams are arranged around various areas of expertise:
Energy Supply
This team is accountable for the renewable energy, gas and electricity sectors, transport fuel programmes and development area.
Business
This team works with key people in a small number of the country's businesses to demonstrate the benefits of energy efficiency.
Strategic Development
This team provides the analytical and engineering base for all of EECA's activities.
Residential
This team is responsible for interactions with the community. The team works on developing relevant programmes and projects with a focus on residential energy efficiency.
New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy
This team is leading the development of the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (the NZEECS), a replacement national energy efficiency and conservation strategy. The NZEECS will support the energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy objectives of the New Zealand Energy Strategy (NZES), which is being prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development.
Products
This team works on a varied and challenging range of projects to make energy efficient products available for New Zealanders. The products team makes energy savings by increasing the stock of energy efficient products in New Zealand through influencing the purchase decisions with Mandatory Energy Performance Labels, and Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), as well as the voluntary endorsement label Energy Star which identifies the most energy efficient models of a product. The team is also working on a mandatory vehicle fuel economy labelling scheme for new and used vehicles which is expected to be introduced later this year.
The team regulates a wide range of products from whiteware to air conditioners, is involved with product compliance, and works towards ensuring the best products available are on the shelves across the country.
Government & Local Government
This team's work is varied, covering internal and external operational policy streams, relationship management and strategic business planning. The team provides direct energy efficiency and renewable energy related policy advice and services to government and the EECA Board. Advice is also provided to assist EECA teams that have an external client group focus.
Marketing & Communications
This team is responsible for marketing and communicating the work of EECA. This includes publishing EnergyWise News and maintaining EECA's websites.
Corporate Services
A key role of this team is to ensure EECA has the systems, processes and facilities to achieve its strategic business goals.
