This specification outlines the criteria for ENERGY STAR solar water heating systems. A product must meet all of the identified programme requirements if it is to be registered with the New Zealand ENERGY STAR programme and carry the ENERGY STAR mark.
Summary of key criteria
Residential sized, packaged solar water heating systems that:
- comply with AS/NZS 2712:2007
- can be performance rated by AS/NZS 4234:2008
- must deliver a minimum of 70% saving compared to a reference water heater in New Zealand when calculated using AS/NZS 4234:2008 for Zone 5.
- A product must have a 10 year warranty for the solar collector, six years for the storage tank and two years for controls.
