ENERGY STAR TV specification version 4.0 and version 5.0
Guidelines
12 April 2009
Televisions will soon need to be around 30% more energy efficient than conventional models to achieve the Energy Star mark.
The version 4.0 and 5.0 ENERGY STAR specifications for televisions have been finalised by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The requirements establish challenging on mode power consumption levels, take steps to ensure a TV is viewed in the mode in which it qualified for ENERGY STAR so consumer savings are realised, and curb energy associated with downloading program guide data.
Version 4.0 will be launched in New Zealand on August 1 2010 with version 5.0 launched on August 1 2012.
