Innovation fund project - Arthurs Court Motor Lodge
This motel is located in Sherborne Street, Central Christchurch and when fully occupied hosts 35 people per night. Currently the motel has a gas bill of around $1,000 per month.
The Sunshine Solar solar water heating (SWH) system to be installed by Advanced Solar Technologies is a demonstration example for the Quality Chain Group, which has ninety motels throughout NZ.
The 28.8m2 SWH system will have both gas and electricity as backup, a design that has been choosen to take advantage of night rate electricity if desired. The system is expected to save around $4,000 per year.
The motel will be monitored for nine months with gas, electricity and water flow meters to assess the performance of this system.
The results of this project will be compared to the Belle Bonne motel, which has installed a leased SWH system by the same supplier.
Results will be made available when the monitoring of this project is complete.
