Innovation Fund project - Larchview Holiday Park
The Larchview Holiday Park was established 60 years ago in Naseby, Central Otago. The amenity block at the centre of this project is used by 24 tent sites, 48 caravan sites and 13 accomodation units. The Park enjoys an average occupancy over summer of 60%.
Originally the hot water heating source for the amenity block was a diesel boiler. This has now been replaced by a 20.5m2 solar water heating system with one 1000L and one 800L cylinder. The system has LPG as a backup when required.
As holiday parks such as this one get the majority of their visitors in summer and water demand is very high, solar water heating is the ideal solution for this situation.
The project owner will undertake 6 months of monitoring with gas and water flow meters to assess the performance of this system.
Results will be made available when the monitoring of this project is complete.
