Solar water heating grants for public buildings guidance sheet

Guidelines
1 March 2009

The Government wants public sector organisations to play an important leadership role in increasing the use of renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency and inspiring New Zealanders to take personal responsibility for their energy.
Solar water heating is currently uncommon in non-residential buildings and an important part of this programme will be providing information and demonstrating benefits to help organisations and owners of commercial buildings make informed decisions.
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) provides funding to assist public sector organisations to establish the feasibility of solar water heating and/or install solar water heating systems in buildings they own. Public sector organisations including government departments, territorial local
authorities, Crown entities, Crown-owned companies, district health boards, schools
and universities are eligible to apply for a Feasibility Study Grant, an Installation
Grant, or both. EECA will receive and evaluate applications throughout the financial
year.
