Dishwashers
Household dishwashers are required to display energy rating labels when displayed for sale.
Importers and manufacturers may not sell dishwashers unless they are tested and labelled in accordance with the Energy Efficiency (Energy Using Products) Regulations 2002.
Importers, manufacturers, retailers and people selling new appliances have obligations to ensure that energy rating labels are afixed or supplied when appliances are available for sale.
Regulatory Requirements
There are steps you must take to meet the requirements of the Energy Efficiency (Energy Using Products) Regulations 2002.

Standards
The Standard for labelling dishwashers is AS/NZS 2007.2:2005. It describes the testing, labelling and registration requirements. Standards are available from Standards New Zealand.
The information on the energy efficiency label for dishwashers includes standby power in the calculation for comparative energy consumption and the energy rating, so that the total energy use is known. Standby power is the energy used by an appliance while it's plugged in but not being used.
Scope and exemptions to the Standard

ENERGY STAR®
EECA has introduced the ENERGY STAR mark on whiteware and other home appliances - including dishwashers. This voluntary, international endorsement mark enables consumers to identify which models are the most energy efficient.
