Investigating quality of insulation in new build residential homes

Research and reports
25 January 2011

EECA recently commissioned Realsure to look at the standard of insulation work in new homes - which may have an impact on EECA's future retrofit programmes.

It is part of EECA's ongoing work to raise the overall quality of insulation in New Zealand. The researchers assessed 58 new homes throughout the country. The findings indicate that more industry training is needed to make sure new homes are insulated to standard. EECA is working with the Department of Building and Housing on areas highlighted in the report and discussing the findings of the report with the insulation industry.
