Large Energy Users Forum
Energy managers from 12 organisations with a combined energy spend of over $711 million met recently at the New Zealand Refinery Company – Marsden Point to discuss best practice in energy efficiency.
The New Zealand Refinery Company was well placed to co-host this event, as they were awarded a five-star rating for their One-2-Five® assessment – world’s best practice in energy management. Their new CEO, Ken Rivers drew on his experience in Europe and spoke on global oil prices and energy demand.
“Effective global energy management has to be driven by our commitment to energy efficiency,” he told the forum. He believes that energy efficiency measures are the most effective tool for managing the expected increase in future demand for oil driven by the emergence of developing nations.
“It was great to hear from Ken who brought a global perspective on energy efficiency to the forum,” says Murray Bell, EECA Business Manager.
Companies represented this year included Fonterra Co-operative Group, Carter Holt Harvey, Norske Skog, Golden Bay Cement, ANZCO Foods, Fletcher Aluminium, New Zealand Steel, OI New Zealand, New Zealand Aluminium Smelters, Sandford and Sealord.
The Large Energy Users Forum is an annual event to promote best practice in energy management to industrial businesses with an energy spend of over $5 million a year. This year it was organised by EECA in partnership with the New Zealand Refinery Company.
