Transpower is delighted to be involved as a sponsor of the EECA EnergyWise Awards for the third consecutive occasion.

As the owner and operator of the National Grid, Transpower plays an important role in ensuring that the energy expectations of business and domestic consumers are met.

Electricity is an instant connection from source to switch. It can’t be stored, so Transpower must ensure its lines deliver continuous volumes of electricity to wherever it is required throughout New Zealand.

Transpower’s proposed programme of new investment in the National Grid is part of the solution to ensuring that our country’s future energy needs are met. One of the benefits of this grid investment will be a stronger National Grid, better able to connect the growing amount of wind generation being developed across the country to where people live.

But grid investment alone will be not be enough. We must also expand our energy generation options and we must become world leaders in the efficient use of electricity. The EECA EnergyWise Awards celebrates the importance of energy efficiency and recognises publicly those organisations that have shown leadership and innovation in this area.
