Hot Water Systems

In 2009, EECA introduced a Heat Pump Water Heating Pilot scheme (the Pilot) designed to collect data on the energy and economic performance of a range of residential HPWH technologies installed in different regions of NZ. This report details the finding of that pilot scheme.

Since 1904, the Little Sisters of the Poor has run its home and hospital providing care facilities for the elderly. Constant hot water and heating are vital, and changing to a wood chip boiler ensured a reliable supply of both at significantly reduced costs.

The average energy cost savings were $12,510 per month and carbon emissions were reduced by 490 tonnes per year.
