Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS)

Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) help to ensure that we all buy more efficient appliances and equipment. Certain products must comply with specific standards for energy efficiency. The standards are available from Standards New Zealand.

New Zealand works with Australia to keep MEPS levels the same. Almost all of our standards are, or soon will be, joint standards with Australia.

New Zealand has mandatory MEPS for the following:

Fridges, freezers, and single-phase domestic air conditioners must also display an Energy Rating Label.

You can view the range of products covered by MEPS at the Energy Rating Australia website . If you’ve found a product for sale that isn’t on the list please email us.
