Upcoming plans for products
The products programme at EECA improves the energy efficiency of products used in homes and businesses. The products programme is a key part of the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (NZEECS).
EECA works with Australian federal and state agencies on a joint programme - the Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) Programme, to develop energy efficiency measures for a range of household, commercial and industrial products. These measures deliver economic and environmental benefits to both countries.
The main tools used to achieve this are:
- Minimum energy performance standards (MEPS)
- Mandatory energy performance labelling (MEPL)
- Energy Star® endorsement mark.
Under the current E3 work programme, EECA plans to introduce or increase energy efficiency levels for the products listed below:
- Air Conditioning
