Crown loans

Government organisations wanting to implement energy efficiency and renewable energy projects sometimes face funding restrictions. We can help with loans for implementing energy projects that would not otherwise go ahead.

Loans are available to government departments, district health boards, Crown owned companies, territorial authorities, regional councils, universities, polytechnics, schools and Crown entities.

Types of projects funded recently include:

  • Energy efficient space heating
  • Installation of wood-chip boiler to dry sewerage sludge
  • Energy efficient lighting.

Criteria

All applications are evaluated against one another according to the following criteria:

  • Payback period
  • How much energy the project saves or is displaced by renewable energy
  • Ability of the project to be a demonstration site for other government bodies and communities
  • Co-benefits, such as improving air quality or industry development.

How to apply

There are two Crown loan funding rounds each year. Each funding round will be notified on this website and on the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS)

The next funding round closes at 4pm on 23 October 2009.
