Renewable transport energy
New Zealand uses substantial renewable energy for electricity generation and heat. However, the transport sector uses less than one percent renewable energy.
Using renewable transport energy can help New Zealand improve security of supply and reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.
New Zealand is most likely to increase renewable energy in the transport sector through the use of biofuels and electric vehicles.
Our renewable transport programme
EECA's renewable transport programme has the following objectives:
- To provide the public and industry with information on biofuels and electric vehicles
- Develop and implement sustainability reporting for biofuels
- Build industry knowledge through the annual EECA Biofuels and Electric Vehicles Conference
