Compressed air programme
It is estimated there is realistic potential to achieve electricity savings of around 185GWh a year, and at least 37,000 tonnes of reduced CO² emissions from compressed air systems in New Zealand industry.
Our Compressed Air Systems (CAS) efficiency programme aims to improve the energy efficiency of New Zealand's electrically powered compressed air systems.
For larger users the programme provides a robust auditing method. For smaller businesses, the programme offers simple tools to help maintenance service providers identify (and demonstrate to business operators) areas of potential savings.
The CAS efficiency programme includes:
- Funding CAS audits for larger New Zealand industry sites, where those audits are performed by auditors accredited under the CAS auditor accreditation scheme;
- Supporting the CAS auditor accreditation scheme to ensure that a pool of competent CAS auditors is available to carry out the CAS audits according to an industry-accepted standard;
- Maintaining the CAS audit standards and guidelines in partnership with the Compressed Air Association of Australasia;
- Providing service providers to smaller business with an ‘Air Efficiency Rating' tool to assist them measure and score the efficiency of the compressed air systems used by smaller businesses.
