Release of New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy
After considering the report and recommendations from consultation on the draft New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (Pursuant to section 17(2)c of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000), the Government gives the following notice:
On October 11 2007 the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy was released by the Minister of Energy.
The Strategy gives effect to the Government’s policy on the promotion of energy efficiency, energy conservation and the use of renewable sources of energy. It includes measures to reduce energy demand and address energy use in transport, buildings, industry rural and government sectors. It also promotes greater consideration of more sustainable methods of energy supply and land development.
The Strategy aims to help create a sustainable energy future for New Zealanders. In doing so, it will also assist us to meet our international climate change commitments.
